This guide covers how to verify original camera files (OCF) against their ASC MHL checksums using Pomfort MediaVerify. Run this after downloading or copying a shoot day's media to confirm all files transferred correctly and nothing is missing or corrupted.
Before you start
- MediaVerify must be installed on your workstation. If it is not available, contact post-support@amazonstudios.com to have it installed.
- The media folder you are verifying must contain ASC MHL files (
.mhl). These are created during the original camera offload and travel with the media.
Steps
- Open MediaVerify and click Choose Drive or Folder.
- Browse to your media shoot day folder (for example, on the Nexis or a local drive). MediaVerify scans the directory for ASC MHL files. Once it finds them, the Verify button becomes available.
- A confirmation prompt asks if you want to proceed. Click Verify again.
- MediaVerify reads every file and checks it against the MHL checksums. The progress bar and percentage show how far along it is.
- When complete, a green tick confirms all files passed verification.
- Click the Files tab to see the full list. Every file should show Passed. If any show Failed or Missing, that media needs to be re-transferred.
- Click Save Report File to download a verification report. Rename the saved file to match the shoot day (for example,
DAY01_260409_MU002_verify.txt) so it is easy to identify later.
- Click History to see previously processed MHL folders and their generation dates.
What to do if verification fails
- If files show as Failed, the data on disk does not match the original checksum. Re-download or re-copy the affected camera roll from the source (S3 or the original media shuttle).
- If files show as Missing, they were expected by the MHL but are not present on disk. Confirm the full folder was transferred and nothing was accidentally deleted or moved.
- After re-transferring, run MediaVerify again on the same folder to confirm the issue is resolved.
- If failures persist after a clean re-transfer, contact post-support@amazonstudios.com with the shoot day, the folder path, and the verification report.
When to contact support
If the self-service steps above don't resolve your issue, reach out to the team that handles your type of request:
ProdTech: post-support@amazonstudios.com
ProdTech manages Studio in the Cloud, including initial user onboarding, new account creation, and provisioning access to storage, workspaces, cloud workstations, applications, and tools, plus the setup, performance, and technical issues covered in this guide.
TechOps (TOPS): support@amazonstudios.com
TechOps manages your Originals Access account, and will assist you with issues around Okta sign-in/SSO problems, password resets, MFA/2FA resets (including a new phone), and account lockouts.
TechOps also handles requests for access to specific applications (such as Box, Flow Capture, or Aspera on Cloud).
When contacting us, help us resolve your issue quickly by always including:
- Your full name and account email (
@originalsaccess.com). - A clear description of the problem and the exact error message you see (a screenshot helps).
- Your show code and show name
- The show/workspace, workstation, or application involved.
- When the problem started and what you've already tried.
Please open a new request for each separate issue rather than replying to an older, resolved one, so it reaches the right team.
