This article explains how to request a new cloud post-production environment for your production, and how to expand the storage, workspaces, and user access you already have. In plain terms, it covers getting the cloud storage and workspaces set up, adding people and tools, and growing your setup as your production scales.
How do I request a new cloud environment for my production?
Submit a setup request to ProdTech support at post-support@amazonstudios.com and tell them about your production and what you need. Once your request is received, the studio's team handles the back-end setup for you, you don't have to provision anything yourself.
To request a new environment:
- Contact ProdTech support at post-support@amazonstudios.com (or ask your studio sponsor/contact who to reach out to).
- Provide your production name and a short description of the work involved (for example: dailies upload, editorial, color/conform, mastering).
- List what you need: cloud storage, workstations, file-transfer access (for example Aspera on Cloud or S3 access keys), and any applications or tools.
- Include your timeline and start date so setup can be scheduled.
- The studio team will confirm when your storage, workspaces, and access are ready.
For new shows that need a workflow designed first, you can ask for a short scoping or kickoff call before formal setup begins to walk through your upload method and overall plan.
What information do I need to provide to get set up?
Having these details ready up front makes setup faster and avoids back-and-forth:
- Production name (and season, if applicable).
- A description of the work involved and the workflow you expect to use.
- The number of users or seats who will need access.
- The applications and tools you need.
- How much storage you expect to need.
- Your start date and overall timeline.
- Any archive or long-term retention needs.
- Your studio sponsor or contact, if you know who that is.
How long does setup take?
Setup time depends on the size and complexity of your request and your timeline. The best way to get an accurate estimate is to share your start date and the scope of work as early as possible. If you're on a tight schedule, say so in your request, the team can recommend the fastest workable option for getting your media moving and confirm what's realistic for your dates.
How do I add more storage, more workspaces, or more users?
You can expand an existing setup at any time as your production grows. Send ProdTech support at post-support@amazonstudios.com an expansion request that includes:
- The name of your existing production or environment.
- What you want to add, for example, additional storage, new workspaces (such as for new seasons), or more user seats.
- For new users, the person's name and email, and the level of access they need.
- The timeline for when you need it in place.
If you're adding users, it helps to point to an existing team member whose access level matches what the new person should have. The team will confirm once the new storage, workspaces, or users are active. For more on setting up accounts and access, see Originals Access (OA) Accounts and Accounts & Access.
I have a new collaborator or vendor who needs access: how do I add them?
Ask ProdTech support at post-support@amazonstudios.com to grant access to the specific person. Provide their name and email, the workspace or storage they need to reach, and whether they need to upload, download, or both. If a teammate already has the right level of access, mention them as a reference so the new person can be set up the same way. The team will confirm once access is granted, so let them know if the person still can't get in.
Who do I talk to to get started?
Start with ProdTech support at post-support@amazonstudios.com, or reach out to your studio sponsor or production contact if you have one. They can point you to the right intake process and help scope your environment before setup begins.
